To celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day students listened to the story Big Words and learned how to use their words to take action. Then they made a Dr. King silhouette with some of his big words.


This week’s poem was also dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Fish Subtraction

Students practiced creating their own subtraction problems with Goldfish. Of course when we were all finished we ate some fish too!

Students practiced their basic shapes to create a shape penguin. We used the penguins to add some character to our hallway wall.

January Song

Ants Subtraction

Students continued their subtraction practice but this time with ants and a picnic.

Ants won’t stop Abigail’s fun!

Once again students earned OnTrack. This time they decided on a snowball fight in the classroom!


They first created their snowball with a Word Wall word. We then had a few short snowball fights. Lastly we wrote about the experience in our monthly journals.
